Help

What Inventorama does today, answers to the questions people ask most, and what we are working on next.

What you can do

Properties

Keep each home, rental or cabin as its own property, with an address and a photo. Every property has its own items, maintenance log and people.

Items

Record appliances, electronics and anything else worth keeping track of. Only a name and a category are required; brand, model, serial number, purchase date and price, vendor, location, notes and links to the seller, the user manual and the warranty registration are there when you want them. "Add another like this" starts a new item from one you already have.

Search, filters and sorting

Search a property's items by name, brand, model, serial number, location or store, filter them by category or warranty, and sort them by name, purchase date or warranty end.

Search across properties

Search every property you can see at once, by name, brand, model, serial number, location or store, from the search box at the top.

Warranties

Enter the date an item's warranty ends, or pick a length of 1, 2, 3 or 5 years from the purchase date. The item list shows which warranties are active, expiring within 90 days or expired, and which items have none.

Files

Attach receipts, manuals, warranties, registrations and photos to an item, or take the photo with your phone's camera. Each file's kind is set from its name (warranty.pdf becomes a Warranty, and an image with no such word a Photo), and you can change it. JPEG, PNG, WebP or PDF, up to 10 MB each, with 100 MB of storage for the properties you own.

Maintenance log

Log each service visit on an item: the date, what was done, the cost, who did the work, your notes and the invoice. Set how often an item needs servicing and see when it was last done.

Sharing a property

Give someone read-only access to one property, such as a renter or a house-sitter. They see its items, files and maintenance log but cannot change anything.

Households

Invite a partner or family member into your household and you co-own every property either of you creates, now or later. Co-owners can do everything except delete the property. Anyone who leaves keeps the properties they created.

Exports

Download a property's items, or its maintenance log, as a CSV file to open in a spreadsheet.

Your account

Change the name other people see, add a photo, and check how much of your storage you have used, on the Account page.

Needs attention

One list of what needs you: warranties ending in the next 30 days and maintenance that is due, across all your properties, from the header.

Reminders

One email a day, only when something new needs you: a warranty ending within 30 days or maintenance that is due. They go to the owners and co-owners of a property, not to viewers. On by default; turn it off on the Account page.

Deleting your account yourself

Delete your account from the Account page. Everything you stored goes at once; your sign-in stays.

Maintenance tips

A short checklist for looking after each item — what to do, how often, and why — researched for its brand and model where that is known, or for its category otherwise, with the sources. Shared by everyone who owns the same model. Suggestions to check, not instructions.

Guides

Plain-language guides to looking after what is in your home: maintenance schedules, appliance care, warranties and receipts, energy savings, and when to repair or replace. Each cites its sources. They are open to everyone at inventorama.com/guides, and an item's page links the guides for its category.

Questions

Is Inventorama free?

Yes, today. A Pro plan is planned that adds an insurance report, more storage and more control over reminders. When it launches, maintenance tips and setting up new shares and households move to Pro; shares and households that exist then keep working, exports stay free, and everyone gets an email at least 30 days before. See inventorama.com/pricing.

Someone shared a property with me. Why can't I see it?

Sign in with exactly the address the invitation was sent to, and that address has to be verified. Signing in with Google or GitHub verifies it for you. If you registered with a password, click the link in the verification email you received, then sign out of Inventorama and sign in again.

How do I join a household I was invited to?

Sign in with the invited address, verified as above, and choose Accept in the banner at the top of the page. The properties you created become co-owned by the household. You can be in one household at a time.

What is the difference between a viewer and a co-owner?

A viewer sees everything about one property, including its files and maintenance log, and can export it, but cannot change anything. A co-owner can do everything the owner can, except delete the property or remove the owner.

Whose storage do uploaded files count against?

The property owner's, whoever uploads them. Each person has 100 MB for the properties they own.

Is my data backed up?

The database and your files are backed up every night, and backups are kept for 7 days. For a copy of your own, export a property's items and maintenance log as CSV files at any time.

When do reminder emails arrive?

Once a day in the early morning, US time, and only when a warranty is about to end or maintenance is due that you have not been told about. Reminders go to verified addresses only: Google and GitHub sign-ins are verified, a password sign-up is verified by the link in its email.

How do I delete my account?

On the Account page, under Delete your account. Type your email address to confirm. The properties you own are deleted for everyone they are shared with; your ceba.dev sign-in is kept, so signing in again starts an empty account.

How are maintenance tips made?

An automated research step runs nightly for any brand and model, or category, that has not been researched yet. It sends the item's category, brand and model number and the country of its property to an AI assistant with web search, which reads the manufacturer's pages and writes the checklist with its sources. It never sends an item's name, serial number, photos, your name or your address. Tips for the same model are shared by every user who has it. They are suggestions to check, not instructions; use "Not accurate?" under the tips to tell us when one is wrong, and work on gas, refrigerant or mains electricity should always go to a professional.

We are working on these. There are no dates yet, and the list may change.

Local services

Companies near the property to call for a repair or a service.

Sold and disposed items

Keep a record of things you sold or got rid of, instead of deleting them.
